De Hoop Nature Reserve—peace, quiet and giants

If you’re looking for perfect peace and quiet, there can be few places in South Africa to match the 1872 Melkkamer Cottage on the far side of the vlei.

Yes, it is one of the world’s best land-based whale-watching areas, but this marine-protected area is also a World Heritage Site.
