Travel Writer

Kate Turkington, an inveterate and intrepid traveller, writes for both South African and international travel publications, including – among many others – Africa Geographic, Travel and Upfront in SA, and Conde Nast in New York. She has contributed the chapters on Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, Namibia, Botswana and Swaziland to Fodor’s Southern Africa, editions 2 and 3, and has just finished her contributions to the 4th edition.

In 2006 alone, she visited and wrote about 11 countries worldwide, and in 2007 has already visited Botswana’s Okavango Delta, Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls, Tanzania’s Serengeti, Spain and Cuba. She’s off to Ireland soon, followed a few months later by Mauritius, Germany and the Czech Republic. She broadcasts live back to her radio programme, Believe it or Not on Talk Radio 702, from wherever she is in the world – Halong Bay, Machu Pichu, the Rift Valley, Disneyland, Paris , Havana, Cuba, and – once, memorably – from Antarctica.
